Fearless Guild Policy
Fearless guild policy or "Guildlines"
Updated 4/21/2009 (Subject to modification if deemed necessary.)
Changes are noted in **RED
NOTE: In order to alleviate some of the issues that have arisen from trying to run two groups, we have made some changes to the guild policy. Accepting an invite to a raid and not showing up without prior notice will incur stiff penalties.
FEARLESS will be focusing on one core group and trying to rotate people in until we get a solid team for group two. This is to try to eliminate the frustrations caused by juggling your schedule around to attend a raid that did not happen because one or two people did not notify us that they will not be attending after accepting an invite. This is a temporary situation until we have a chance to reevaluate our membership and goals.
Goals:
Fearless is a guild that is small and plans to stay that way. Our goal is a solid core of players who are interested in raiding. Initially, our aim is to raid Naxx and other 10 man content, then progress to 25 mans if possible and the interest is there.
Our mission is not to be some huge mega guild and try to be all things for all people but to have a small, solid core of players who are interested in seeing some end game content and willing to work as a team to get there. We are perfectly willing to accept players who's gear is not "Uber" and work with them in order to help prepare them to come with us to Naxx and beyond. This may mean that we farm heroics a lot, but heroics are not only fun, they are good practice for teamwork.
Some benefits and potential issues associated with being a small focused group include.
- We will be small so our resources are somewhat more limited than the big guilds. Crafting professions may not have every recipe, etc. We are striving to have at least one of each profession maxed though.
- Because we are small, the odds of getting left out of a raid and always being "On Standby" are small as well. This also means that attendance will be very important as if just a couple people do not make it, then the whole run will have to be called. We will review recruitment as we grow in order to try to minimize this chance by having standby's but we do not want to grow too large.
- We will be able to give personal attention to guildmates who need some help. Example: You really need a drop in instance X to get your hit rating capped. We will put this instance on farm and work with you to ensure you get the drop. (With the blessing of /random)
Raid Attendance Policy:
First and foremost, if you agree to be a part of a raid, you must make every effort to be there and be on time. If for some reason, you will not be able to make it. Please let an officer know as soon as possible either through direct contact in game or if no officer is on, through in game mail system. If you agree to show for a raid and do not notify an officer, you will be docked 1/3 of your EP at the start of the raid.
**Getting saved to an instance that the guild needs you to run is a 1000EP dock. So if it's on farm or progression status, don't run it outside the guild.
Attendance will be by invite only. There will be 2 modes of raid status, "Active" and "Standby". EP will be awarded based on which status you are during the raid. Please see EPGP link from main page.
Invite priority will be based on EP priority to some degree, if we have two people to choose from for an invite and one has a higher priority that person will get first shot at attending the raid. This is due to the fact that the person with the highest priority has put the most effort in and deserves the first shot at going. Note: This will not apply to instances/raids on "Farm" status as they are in place to help get gear and also raise the priority of the person attending.
If you are not invited to the raid and wish to be on standby status, you must contact one of the guild officers in order to be placed into standby.
Bonus EP will be awarded for raid attendance as follows:
On Time: Showing up for raid 15 min early = 25 EP (Also applies to standby's)
Prepared: Showing up for raid with all potions, flasks, reagents ready = 25 EP
Raid starts at designated time = 150 EP bonus for entire raid.
- Status Active: This means you are in the raid group and actively participating in the raid.
- Status Standby: This means you are not in the raid group but available at a moments notice to join the raid group should a need for your participation arise. If you are in another group, you will have to leave group immediately in order to participate in our raid or you will receive no EP. In some cases, failure to show up after having agreed to be on standby could result in the removal of EP. Example: You agreed to be on standby status, an Active raider has an emergency and has to leave the raid. At this point you refuse to join the raid party and the run has to be cancelled. In this case EP equal to the remaining bosses left in the raid may be deducted. This is because the entire raid would suffer based on your failure to participate after having agreed to.
We do not expect you to stand around outside an instance for the duration of a raid if you are on standby. But we would like to have the option of being able to call you at a moments notice if required. 45 minutes of standby will be our starting policy and may be reduced or increased in time.
Raid days will be set on certain days (Officer Meeting incoming) and PUGging members in will be kept to an absolute minimum.
In Naxx, we will be doing "Boss Rotation" which in essence is "IF need a drop from one specific boss but where not able to attend the raid based on more people available to raid than there are open spots, one of our core people will rotate out with you and allow you a chance at the loot from that boss." Laydeelight will be handling the coordination for this but you must do the research yourself and know which boss(es) you could use a drop from. Raiders who stepped out to allow someone a shot at the boss will be awarded full EP for that boss.
Recruitment Policy:
Recruitment is restricted to Officers and Raid Leaders. We will only be recruiting classes that we need to fill raid spots. Alts are allowed and can have their EP awarded to a main if this is specifically requested at the time the alt is brought into the guild.
Loot Rules:
The following rules apply to Heroics and 5 man runs only, raids will utilize the EPGP system for loot distribution and all disenchanted materials will go to guild bank for crafting purposes. BoE Epics in 10 man runs will be placed in guild bank and sold after a reasonable time.
- If the item is BOE and you can not use it, then click greed. Donating the item to guild bank is appreciated but not required.
- If the item is BOP and you can not use it, and there are no disenchanters available, click greed.
- If the item is BOP and you can not use it, and there ARE disenchanters available, let the disenchanter pick it up, disenchant it, and everyone /roll for the mats.
- If the item is BOE or BOP and you NEED it, click need, if more than one person clicks need, it will sort itself out in a fair roll between needers.
- Since we are not an alt heavy guild, needing for alts is not allowed on guild runs. This can be bypassed in 5 mans/Heroics if the whole party is agreeable.
Harassment, etc. policy:
Since you are a member of Fearless, there are certain rules of etiquette that must be followed.
- We will tolerate no racism of any type and it is grounds for guild removal.
- You are wearing our guild tag and will be expected to behave yourself in trade chat, world chat, and PUG's.
- Belittlement or harassment of fellow guildies is not an attractive trait and we will deal with each situation after having heard both sides of the story.
Guild Bank Policy:
The Fearless guild bank is a central repository of items and money that will be utilized to help guild progression. As much as we would like to trust everyone with full access to the bank, the forums are full of posts about "The Guild Bank Ninja". It is a sad indicator of the times that we live in. On a brighter note, trust can and will be earned and hard working dedicated contributing guildies will have no problems accessing what they need from the guild bank.
Guild Bank currently has 3 tabs access to the tabs is as follows.
- Any rank may deposit to the first tab and deposit money as well. Items deposited to tab 1 will NOT count towards EP.
- All deposits to any other tab must be mailed to Deathoknight so he can award EP based on the contribution.
- Members will have the ability to withdraw 5 stacks from the first tab of the bank only.
- For items from any other tab of the bank, request a withdrawal from an officer and we will get you the appropriate item either through in game mail or a face to face meeting.
- Officers have full access to all tabs.
If you are on an alt, or just need an item to create potions, elixirs, or any craftable item in order to recieve EP for crafting them and you do not have rights to withdraw an item from the bank, please inform an officer. Tell them the item you need, the reason you need it, and what tab it is on. All reasonable requests will be honored.
EPGP Policy:
Fearless uses the EPGP loot system. This system is used by many of the top raiding guilds as a fair way to distribute loot based on effort put into guild. This method is preferable to DKP in many ways including the auto decay of saved points if a toon is offline for an extended period of time. This prevents this toon from coming back 6 months later and spending saved EP on an item that another hard working guildie has been farming for the last month.
EPGP stands for Effort Points/Gear Points. Effort Points (EP) quantify the effort each member put towards the, hopefully common, guild goals. Gear Points (GP) quantify what loot each member gets back in return. Loot priority is computed as the quotient of the two; priority (PR) is equal to EP/GP. The person with the higher PR gets the first say on loot.
In English, the more effort you put into the guild, the more gear you receive. As a matter of fact, the gear you receive is proportional to the effort you put in.
If an item drops that only one guildie can use. (Example: only mail wearer in group, or MT already has item and OT gets is by default) then no GP will be awarded. What this means is that your priority for the next drop will not be lowered if the item defaults to you and their is no competition for the piece.
If an item is rolled on for Greed/Offspec by one person and another rolls Need/Mainspec the item will be awarded to the Need/Mainspec for free unless there is a competing Need/Mainspec roll against him/her.
If an item is rolled for as Need/Mainspec by more than one guildie, the loot will be distributed to the guildie with the highest priority, gear points will be awarded to the player with the winning roll the effectively lowering their priority and giving the next highest priority a chance on the next roll.
In order to get a higher priority, it is important to increase your EP by attending raids, showing up on time and prepared. Contributions to guild bank also will increase your EP. If you do not attend raids, your priority will remain low.

Vent Policy:
We have a small ventrilo server, this is for guild use only. Officers and the Guild master are allowed to give this address out to PUGS at their discretion. If you are not of this status and need to give out vent information, please ask an officer for permission first. This is not due to us being power hungry, or control freaks, it is due to the fact that our vent server has only 35 slots available at this time.
Vent is for Raids / Instances first, chat second. This means that there is to be no unnecessary talk going on during boss fights. Please be respectful and try not to talk over top of people who are talking, especially guild officers who are relaying information about the encounter.
PUSH TO TALK BUTTON IS REQUIRED, NO OPEN MICS.
Rewards for helping gear lower members:
EP will be NOT be awarded to guildies who help other guildies farm instances, or craft items for them, etc. in order to get them prepared to raid. It is assumed that everyone wants to better the guild as a whole so that everyone will benefit from the progression of each player. This means that I will have no problem helping farm an instance that I don't need in order for a fellow guildie to get a drop that will benefit the rest of the guild as a whole. Remember, the breaking point in any chain is the weakest link, so the stronger each individual member of a raid is, the better our chances of success as a guild.
**In order to provide an incentive for our main raiders to give up their raid spot to a lower geared member (in order to get a strong group 2 going.) we will award the person who stepped out full EP for any part of the instance that they were available for. Available means either online or reachable by phone/instant message, etc.
Any grievances that need to be addressed will be addressed in a calm, rational manner with the guild master and/or an officer of the guild. Grievances will NOT be discussed in an open vent channel, or in guild chat. This causes unnecessary stress on other members of the guild and just makes us look bad in general.
All such matters can be moved to a private vent channel or conducted by other, non public means.
Please understand that by filing a grievance you have read and understood the Fearless Guild Policy. Abuse of the grievance system will result in a loss of EP.
A grievance is defined as a "cause for complaint, especially for unjust treatment." Common sense should be used before making a formal grievance to a Guild Officer. The fact that you did not get in a raid in itself or were passed on for loot by itself is not a grievance, there has to be the element of unjust treatment relating to the particular event. Grievances can also include being harassed by members in the guild or other non raid related things. We will try our best to resolve them but we will need a description of the problem in reasonable detail so that we can pursue the problem.
Send a PM via in game mail to the Guild Leader or another Guild Officer about the issue stating the sequence of events which happened and your reason as to why you were treated unfairly. You will be contacted in game while online as a first option, if you are not online, you will be contacted via in game mail. Give the officer a couple days before inquiring about the incident as they may have not yet had the opportunity to read and review your complaint. If the complaint is about an Officer, send a PM with the details of the incident to the Guild Leader and he will handle the case.
Our guild is moving quickly and we will need everyone's cooperation in looking at the bigger picture. Loot should not be the driving force but maturing into a solid raiding guild is. It becomes apparent who is making sacrifices for the betterment of the guild and who is there to cause problems. Let's all strive to help the guild because without teamwork, we will not be able to face tougher challenges.
While the decision of the Grievance Officer is not final, cases will usually be reviewed with other officers. If you are unsatisfied with the decision of the grievance officer whom you approach, the guild leader will handle any appeals.
Disclaimer:
Although we have made an effort to cover every possible contingency, there will be issues that arise that are not specifically covered by this guild policy. All such issues will be resolved by guild council of officers or if there are not enough on to solve an immediate issue, then the officer on duty can resolve the problem.
